Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Napoleon Hiesel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Napoleon Hiesel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hiesel misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Mir has taken the fight to the clinch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mir. Hiesel does a little dance to reset his feet.

Mir closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mir lands in his opponent's guard.
Mir is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Mir's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Hiesel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mir's guard.
Hiesel won't allow Mir to sweep him here.
Hiesel pushes down on Mir's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hiesel wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mir slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Hiesel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mir has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hiesel has managed to get both his arms back between Mir's legs - danger averted.

Mir has his foot on Hiesel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hiesel works his way back into a safe position though.

Mir has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hiesel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mir bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hiesel's guard.
Hiesel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mir is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hiesel wants to get back to full guard.
Mir is trying to control. Hiesel wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Hiesel is looking for a sweep. Mir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hiesel moves out of range of the body kick.

Hiesel looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mir has picked Hiesel up and slammed him! Hiesel can't keep hold of the triangle and Mir manages to pass to side control!
Hiesel parries the strikes from Mir easily there. Mir is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hiesel to escape.
Hiesel manages to get back to half guard.
Mir content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Mir is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hiesel doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mir.
Mir wants to pass the guard but Hiesel is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mir dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hiesel connects with a right hand. Mir shakes it off.

Napoleon Hiesel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A right-left combo lands from Hiesel.


It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
Horrible takedown by Mir or perhaps it was just good defense by Hiesel which made him look bad.

Hiesel decides to stand back up. Hiesel steps back and let's Mir get back to his feet.
Mir shoots in and drives through. Hiesel sprawls well.

Hiesel is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Mir is positioning himself well to prevent Hiesel advancing to mount.

Mir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hiesel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Mir lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hiesel!

Hiesel tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hiesel makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hiesel.

Hiesel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mir is one step ahead there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The cut man is working on Frank Mir's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Mir might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hiesel kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hiesel tries to roll over but Mir keeps him under control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Frank Mir just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mir shoots in and bounces Hiesel off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Mir is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hiesel is just riding it out for now. Mir eventually gives up the hold.

Hiesel had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mir is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hiesel Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mir's back instead.

Mir defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Hiesel's arms.
Mir needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.
Mir turns into Hiesel and is now in his guard.

I think Mir has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
