Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sean Taylor!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Trevor Rex!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rex throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Taylor's waist but Taylor gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rex off to one side.
Taylor looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
No luck for Rex with that takedown attempt.
Trevor Rex seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rex shoots for a double leg takedown but Taylor sprawls well. He's pushed Rex's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sean Taylor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trevor Rex.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rex.
Rex dodges the punch combination from Taylor.
Taylor drops Rex with a beautiful combination! Rex stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Taylor is looking for the KO!
Rex is rocked!
Rex looks gassed!
Taylor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Taylor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rex moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nice sprawl there from Taylor as Rex shoots in.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rex has a takedown stuffed.
Taylor scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Taylor throws a series of punches but Rex moves out of range.
Taylor misses with a double jab.
Rex looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Taylor is fending him off so far but Rex persists. Nope, Taylor circles away and we're back to standing.
Taylor goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Taylor circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Rex to the canvas! Rex doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Taylor keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sean Taylor!
