Vasquez comes to the cage accompanied by Careless Whisper. Tristan Desya is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Desya rushes Vasquez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Desya stops a takedown attempt from Vasquez.
Vasquez drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Vasquez can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Vasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vasquez tries to pull guard but Desya won't allow it.

Vasquez is breathing heavily.

Desya fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vasquez, pushing him back against the cage.

Desya wants the takedown. Vasquez is fighting it off but Desya persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Vasquez's guard against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Desya would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Desya slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Desya won't allow Vasquez to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Desya wants to stand but Vasquez has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Desya really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vasquez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vasquez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Desya is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Vasquez has taken his back.
