Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mike Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pat Elwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pat Elwood has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pat Elwood!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawk scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Hawk tries to stand but can't do so whilst Elwood controls his leg.

Hawk decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Elwood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hawk swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Elwood stays in close to Hawk's body and controls the position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Pat Elwood just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hawk manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Elwood manages to get himself to full guard.
Elwood keeping moving, preventing Hawk from controlling successfully.

Hawk gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hawk gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Elwood holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Hawk jumps into guard, dragging Elwood to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pat Elwood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Hawk bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Hawk laying and praying for a moment but Elwood takes advantage and regains half guard.

Hawk wants to stand and escape but instead Elwood has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Elwood is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Elwood looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Elwood's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Elwood has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Elwood trying to mount his opponent but Hawk defends it.
Elwood is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Elwood works his foot free and advances to mount.

Elwood is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hawk has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Hawk bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Elwood is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hawk wants to sweep but no luck.
Hawk not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hawk seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Hawk will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hawk is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Elwood is controlling him.
Hawk wants to sweep here but Elwood controlling him for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Elwood pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hawk is keeping the position for now.

I would just about give that final round to Pat Elwood.
Well Elwood has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
