PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnson Rick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Bonnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rick comes to the cage accompanied by Better,Faster,Stronger. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Rick looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rick.
Rick tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Bonnar defending against the ground and pound.
Rick wants to stand but Bonnar has his arm trapped.
Bonnar tries to improve position but can't.
Bonnar manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A head kick from Rick lands but Bonnar takes it in his stride.

Bonnar is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Rick is keeping busy.
Bonnar jumps guard but Rick stands there with Bonnar around his waist. Bonnar gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bonnar has Rick pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rick manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Johnson Rick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenny Bonnar.

Rick escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rick breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Rick rushes Bonnar and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bonnar is trying to break free.
Bonnar drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rick pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rick keeps the fight on the outside.
Bonnar throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rick.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Bonnar shoots in for a takedown but Rick shows good takedown defense.

Bonnar is in all sorts of trouble here.
Rick can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bonnar is looking to escape.

Rick throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bonnar looks for a takedown but Rick sprawls well.

Bonnar is working to tighten is grip on Rick's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Rick has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Bonnar is really squeezing tight and eventually Rick passes out! Bonnar breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
