The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Godo lands with a thumping leg kick.
Coholic takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Coholic is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Godo jumps into guard, dragging Coholic to the mat.

Godo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Coholic defends it well.
Coholic is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Godo pulls his head out easily.
Godo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Coholic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Coholic is refusing to be controlled, as Godo sits in half guard.

Coholic moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Coholic bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Godo's guard.
Godo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Godo wants to get back to his feet but Coholic is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Godo keeping moving, preventing Coholic from controlling successfully.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Godo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

You can see the frustration on Coholic's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Godo wants to control but Coholic is keeping him busy.
Godo has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Godo counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Godo seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Kazuo Godo.

and Godo moves into the clinch.
Godo pulls guard.
Coholic stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Godo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Coholic avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Godo is breathing heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Godo moves into the clinch.

Coholic wants to get back to striking at distance but Godo won't allow it.
Coholic tries to pull guard but Godo holds him up against the cage and eventually Coholic drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Al Coholic. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Godo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Coholic smiles and moves away.
Godo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Coholic but Coholic pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Coholic lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Coholic.
It looks like Kazuo Godo has been cut.
Coholic slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Godo is sitting in close to Coholic's body. Coholic has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Godo is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Godo is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Coholic.
