Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Cottrill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Eddie Dean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Simon Cottrill!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dean shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cottrill checks a low kick from Dean.

Cottrill clinches.
Cottrill trying to land knees to the body.
Dean avoiding damage as Cottrill throws knees to the body.
Dean blocks an elbow strike.

Dean jumps guard and drags Cottrill to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Dean is controlling Cottrill's posture.
Dean wants to sweep but no luck.

Dean looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Cottrill has picked Dean up and slammed him! Dean can't keep hold of the triangle and Cottrill manages to pass to side control!
Dean tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Dean tries to control but Cottrill manages to take his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dean breaks Cottrill's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Dean connects with a couple of short punches.
Dean slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Dean drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dean jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Dean pushes down on Cottrill's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Dean trying to control the pace.

Dean is working for a submission of some sort.
Dean trying to control from half guard but Cottrill is working away.

Dean is working for a kimura but Cottrill is defending it quite comfortably.

Dean wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cottrill keeps working.
Cottrill wants to improve his position but Dean is controlling well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dean is controlling the pace.
Dean seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cottrill for as long as he can get away with.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cottrill checks a leg kick.

Dean gets the takedown into side control.
Cottrill prevents Dean from moving into mount.
Dean wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cottrill keeps working.
Cottrill trying to remain calm as Dean controls from the top position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Eddie Dean just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Cottrill fails with an attempt to clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cottrill.
Dean misses with a wild combination.
Dean circles away from the clinch attempt.

Cottrill has managed to clinch.
Cottrill gets underhooks to prevent Dean's takedown attempt.
Cottrill holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Cottrill lands a good knee to the midsection. Dean won't want to take too many of those.
Cottrill is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Dean tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Cottrill is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Cottrill lands a good knee to the midsection. Dean won't want to take too many of those.

Dean tries to pull guard but Cottrill won't allow it.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Dean tries to pull guard but Cottrill holds him up against the cage and eventually Dean drops back down to his feet.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Simon Cottrill.
Horrible takedown by Dean or perhaps it was just good defense by Cottrill which made him look bad.
Cottrill throws a right and a left that both miss.

Cottrill tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Dean misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

and Cottrill counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Cottrill wants to stand but Dean is controlling his posture from full guard.
Dean has his hands on Cottrill's head, controlling the position.
Cottrill really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dean. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dean is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Cottrill postures up.

Dean looking for a guillotine here but Cottrill defends easily.

Dean is looking for a triangle but Cottrill pushes his legs off easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dean is trying to keep Cottrill in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simon Cottrill showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Dean circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cottrill tries to clinch but Dean moves out of range.
Cottrill is looking to clinch but Dean is avoiding it.
Cottrill displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dean.
Nice sprawl there from Cottrill as Dean shoots in.
Cottrill tries to close the distance and clinch but Dean swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dean is defended easily by Cottrill.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eddie Dean. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dean shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cottrill but Cottrill pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dean chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cottrill can pounce on him.
Cottrill fails with an attempt to clinch.

Dean closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cottrill to the mat! Cottrill manages to get full guard.
Cottrill manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Dean is wriggling around trying to escape.
Dean wants to control but Cottrill is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dean tries to improve his position but instead Cottrill has taken his back!
I really don't envy Dean right now.
Will Cottrill go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Dean just trying to survive but Cottrill is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Cottrill is trying to stick to Dean's back but Dean is turning into Cottrill. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Cottrill's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Dean.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cottrill changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Dean circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dean misses with an attempted mid kick.
Cottrill fails in his attempt to clinch.
Dean shoots for a takedown but Cottrill saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Cottrill misses with a body kick.

Dean clinches up against the cage.
Dean fails to pull guard.
Cottrill tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Dean avoids it.
Dean jumps guard but Cottrill stands there with Dean around his waist. Dean gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Cottrill lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Nice elbow from Cottrill.
Cottrill is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Dean is defending well for now.
Cottrill gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Dean tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Cottrill is pressed up against the cage. Dean has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cottrill down to the mat. Cottrill avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Cottrill is looking to clinch but Dean is avoiding it.

Cottrill throws a knee to the head but misses.
Dean avoiding damage as Cottrill throws knees to the body.
With the fighters up against the cage, Cottrill throws an elbow but misses.
Dean has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cottrill avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Dean fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cottrill gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Dean is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Simon Cottrill comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Cottrill has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
