The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
peikko takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
peikko looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tidwell is fending him off so far but peikko persists. Nope, Tidwell circles away and we're back to standing.
peikko tries to clinch but Tidwell moves out of range.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

peikko is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

peikko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fight stays on the outside here - peikko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

peikko bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Tidwell is looking to reverse the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

peikko is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Tidwell has escaped the position, nice work there.

peikko buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Tidwell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in peikko's guard.
