Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bo Karpatz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Captain Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Captain Gracie has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Bo Karpatz's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bo Karpatz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Captain Gracie!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karpatz motions for Gracie to come forward. Karpatz throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Karpatz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Karpatz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Karpatz tries a head kick but it misses.
Gracie uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Karpatz.
Karpatz throws a body kick that misses.
Karpatz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gracie bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Karpatz is looking for a sweep.
Karpatz is working hard here to advance position.
Gracie just content to control the position.

Karpatz throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Karpatz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee asks Gracie politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gracie prefers to stall for the moment though.
Karpatz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Karpatz tries to get out of the position.
I looks like Gracie might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Captain Gracie just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. Karpatz tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Karpatz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Karpatz pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bo Karpatz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Captain Gracie.
Karpatz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
No joy there for Karpatz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bo Karpatz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gracie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gracie takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Karpatz throws a nice inside leg kick.

Karpatz looks to land a combination. Gracie sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Captain Gracie has been cut.
Karpatz throws a right and a left that both miss.
A right-left combo lands from Karpatz.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gracie is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Karpatz throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Karpatz misses with a series of wild punches.
Karpatz tries to bum rush Gracie with a series of wild strikes but Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Karpatz throws a right and a left that both miss.
Karpatz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie.
Gracie takes a kick to the side of the head.
Gracie closes this distance looking for a takedown but Karpatz circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Karpatz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karpatz throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.
Good leg kick by Karpatz there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Karpatz throws a hook but Gracie blocks it.
Gracie is trying hard to land a takedown here. Karpatz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Gracie shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Karpatz is trying to defend but Gracie finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Gracie is taking a breather. Karpatz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Karpatz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Karpatz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gracie. That did some damage!
Karpatz lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gracie holds on to Karpatz as tight as he can, avoiding damage.
Gracie avoids a series of strikes thrown by Karpatz.
Karpatz prevents Gracie from getting the reversal.
Gracie tries to lock up and control but Karpatz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gracie tries to reverse the position but Karpatz maintains control.
Gracie tries to hold on but Karpatz pushes him away.
