Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Westminister Abbey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Average (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Abbey comes to the cage accompanied by 21 GUNS. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Aaron Average!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Abbey misses.
Abbey is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Average.
Average lands a head kick!
Abbey throws a lazy head kick

and Average counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Average.
Average trying to control the position from guard on top but Abbey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Abbey keeping full guard, as Average tries to pass.

Average decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Abbey scores with a crisp jab that stopped Average in his tracks.
A nice leg kick lands there from Average.
No joy there for Abbey, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Abbey avoids the head kick by Average.

Average closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Average lands in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Average slips nicely into half guard.

Average wants to take a breather but Abbey is having none of it.
Average seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Average wants to lay and pray for a moment but Abbey keeps working.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Average trying to control from Abbey's half guard. Abbey has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Abbey would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Average wants to sweep here but Abbey controlling him for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Average shoots in but Abbey avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Average scores with a nice body kick.

Abbey gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Average stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Abbey swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Abbey is pulling down on Average's head to control his posture.
Average looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Abbey keeping moving, preventing Average from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aaron Average dominated that round.
That's time! Abbey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Average shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Average missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Average pushes down on Abbey's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Average wants to work for an arm triangle but Abbey is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Abbey keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Average decides to stand up.
A left lands for Abbey.
Average is breathing heavily.

Average tries to clinch but Abbey is having none of it.
Abbey scores with a three punch combo!
Abbey waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Average.
Abbey misses with a wild combination.
Abbey misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Westminister Abbey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice uppercut there from Abbey.
Westminister Abbey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Average shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Average looking to control but Abbey is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abbey tries to hold on but Average postures up.

Average can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Abbey is looking to escape.

Average is working for a guillotine from mount but Abbey frees his head quite easily.

Average is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Abbey has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Abbey!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Average is on top in guard.

Average thows a big elbow that misses.
Average wants to control from the top but Abbey keeps moving.
Average wants to pass the guard but Abbey is keeping the position.
Abbey is trying to control the position but Average postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Westminister Abbey will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Abbey is squirming around, avoiding Average's attempts to control the action.

Average stands up from mount. Strange move.

Abbey lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Average circles away quickly and effectively.
Abbey throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Average gets the takedown into side control.

Average is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Abbey is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Average tries to move to mount but Abbey blocks the move with his legs.
Average wants to control but Abbey is keeping him busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Abbey is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Abbey looking for submissions off his back.
Average seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Abbey does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Average trying to mount his opponent but Abbey defends it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Aaron Average comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Average has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
