Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gary Holmes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, David Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Holmes throws out the jab.
Some wild striking there from Wilson.
Wilson shoots in but no luck this time.
Holmes could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Holmes sprawls well. Holmes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wilson gets slowly back to his feet.
Wilson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Holmes.

Wilson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Holmes digs a good hook to Wilson's body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wilson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Holmes manages to avoid it.
Wilson shoots in looking for a takedown. Holmes tries to sprawl out of it but Wilson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Holmes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gary Holmes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Wilson.
Wilson throws a head kick that misses.

Holmes misses with a jab to the body

and Wilson counters with a takedown into side control.
Holmes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Holmes tries to get out of the position.
Holmes tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Wilson easily slips into full mount!
Wilson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Holmes wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Wilson.
Wilson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Holmes because Wilson loaded up on that one.
Wilson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Holmes is looking to escape.
Poor strikes thrown by Wilson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Wilson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Wilson throws an elbow but Holmes slips to the side and avoids it well.
The strikes coming from Wilson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Wilson tries to advance to mount but Holmes denies him.
Wilson throws a strike aimed at the side of Holmes's head but Holmes avoids it well.

Holmes is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Wilson is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Wilson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Some wild striking there from Wilson.
Wilson throws a solid leg kick but Holmes takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Wilson.
Holmes swings for the body but Wilson moves out of range.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wilson is defended easily by Holmes.
Wilson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Holmes manages to avoid it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Holmes stuffs the takedown.
Holmes is looking to wear down Wilson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Wilson just misses with a punch to the body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Wilson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Holmes.
David Wilson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

David Wilson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Holmes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wilson.

Holmes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A slow jab from Holmes misses its intended target.
Wilson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Holmes tries to avoid it but Wilson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Holmes to the ground. Holmes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nice defenses there by Wilson.
Wilson fails with a takedown attempt.
Gary Holmes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Wilson.
Holmes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wilson moves away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wilson misses with a body shot.
Holmes misses with a body shot.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Wilson.

I would just about give that final round to David Wilson.
I've got Wilson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
