The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rotch will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rotch misses with a straight left.
Ali lands a really nice looking cross but Rotch seems unphased.

It looks like Mike Rotch has been cut.
Ali swats away the attempt to clinch by Rotch.
Rotch fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ali scores with a jab to the head.
Rotch cracks Ali with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Rotch misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ali swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ali lands a jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ali lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Ali thuds his right hand into Rotch's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Mike Rotch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rotch takes one to the side of the head.
Ali sizes up Rotch with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Ali throws a shot to the body.
Rotch shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ali pinned against the cage. Ali gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Nice defenses there by Ali.

Ali throws a hook to the side of Rotch's head but Rotch sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Ali avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That has opened up Mike Rotch's cut even more.
Rotch with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ali to score with a decent uppercut.

Ali scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Rotch looks gassed!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rotch throws a shot from downtown. Ali moves away and avoids it.
Rotch tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Muhammad Ali is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Ali stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Rotch on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Rotch is rocked!

The cut above Mike Rotch's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Ali cracks Rotch with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the ropes! Rotch falls to his knees and Ali doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
