Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
piredda dives in and grabs Baringer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Baringer pushes down on piredda's head and hops out.

Baringer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. piredda looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
piredda tries to buck Baringer off but Baringer is having none of it.
piredda is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

piredda is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Baringer goes for an armbar but he's not got it… piredda turns into him and now he's in Baringer's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baringer is looking for a triangle but piredda pushes his legs off easily.
Baringer has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Baringer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down piredda for as long as he can get away with.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
