The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conrad slips a jab from Turner.
Conrad misses with a takedown attempt - Turner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Conrad shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Turner pinned against the cage. Turner gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Turner slaps away a takedown attempt from Conrad, before circling back to the center of the mat.
CJ Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cruz Conrad.

Conrad tries to keep at a distance but Turner has taken the fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Conrad tries to score a power double leg takedown but Turner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Conrad somewhat.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Conrad fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Conrad closes the distance and clinches up with Turner, looking for a takedown. Conrad pushes Turner against the cage but Turner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Turner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Conrad takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Conrad can do anything to dispel that myth.

Turner decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Conrad, up you get!

Turner turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Turner looks up at the clock and then as Conrad takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Turner smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Turner is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Conrad is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Turner stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Turner instigates a clinch.
Conrad tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Turner just stands there and leans against the cage.
Conrad has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Turner is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Conrad can't fight it off and eventually Turner manages to take the fight to the floor. Conrad looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Conrad wriggles free and stands up.

Conrad is breathing heavily.

Turner moves into range and clinches up with Conrad.

Turner pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Turner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Turner, right into the meat.

Turner tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Conrad was well out of range. Poor timing from Turner.

Conrad uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Turner.

Conrad's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Turner shoots in looking for a takedown. Conrad tries to sprawl out of it but Turner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Conrad manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Conrad is trying desperately to land a takedown but Turner is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Conrad.

Turner is trying to drag Conrad to the mat but Conrad just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Good leg kick by Turner there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Conrad has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Turner lands a nice hook to Conrad's body. Conrad takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Turner shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Turner was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee warns Conrad that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Turner postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Conrad looks a forlorn figure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
