Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Poole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Art Nikisch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nikisch has chosen Hero by Skillet as his entrance music. Shawn Poole has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Poole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Art Nikisch!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikisch tries to clinch but Poole is having none of it.
A lazy left from Nikisch finds it's target.


It looks like Shawn Poole has been cut.
Poole keeps the fight on the outside.
Art Nikisch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Poole thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Nikisch if he has to take too many more of those.
Nikisch avoids the head kick by Poole.

Nikisch takes the fight into the clinch.
Nikisch tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Poole avoids it.
Nikisch tries to land a knee to the head but Poole blocks with his arms.
Nikisch is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Poole utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nikisch throws a knee to the head but misses.

Poole breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Poole shoots in but Nikisch avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nikisch avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Nikisch has closed the distance and engaged Poole in a clinch.
Poole gets underhooks to prevent Nikisch's takedown attempt.
Nikisch can't get the takedown.
Poole wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Nikisch gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Poole wants to stand and escape but Nikisch is having none of it.

Poole is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poole is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nikisch not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poole trying to keep a closed guard but Nikisch is proving a slippery customer.
Poole bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nikisch's guard.
Poole lands a couple of digs.

Poole preventing the sweep.
Poole tries to free his leg and advance position but Nikisch is retaining full guard.
Nikisch doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Poole stays in close to Nikisch's body and controls the position.
Nikisch looking to hit a scissor sweep but Poole is one step ahead there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Poole advances position into side control!
Nikisch is looking for a sweep.
Poole wants to take a breather but Nikisch manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Poole.
Nikisch seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Poole tries to clinch but Nikisch is having none of it.

Nikisch has managed to clinch.
Poole misses with an elbow strike.
Poole landing knees to the body.
Poole tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Nikisch wants a takedown.
Poole tries for a takedown but Nikisch manages to get underhooks.
Poole prevents Nikisch from breaking the clinch.
Poole wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Poole is trying to break the clinch but Nikisch has him pressed against the cage.
Nikisch missing with knees to the body.
Nikisch is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Poole is defending well for now.
Poole misses with a knee strike.
Poole fails to pull guard.
Nikisch is pressed up against the cage. Poole has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nikisch down to the mat. Nikisch avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shawn Poole. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nikisch wants to clinch up but Poole keeps it at a distance.
Nikisch connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nikisch darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Nikisch looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Poole trying to control from the bottom.
Well, if Nikisch is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Poole tries to kick Nikisch off but Nikisch keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Poole has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nikisch is working away from the top position though.
Poole tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Poole slips a jab and a cross from Nikisch.

Nikisch closes the distance and clinches.
Poole using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Poole jumps into guard, dragging Nikisch to the mat.
Nikisch controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Poole manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nikisch manages to get himself to full guard.
Nikisch seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Nikisch's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Art Nikisch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Nikisch rushes Poole and presses him up against the cage.
Poole is working for takedown but Nikisch is calmly controlling the position for now.
Poole trying to stall but Nikisch improves his position.

Nikisch breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Poole moves into the clinch.
Nikisch with a knee to the head.
Nikisch looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Nikisch jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Poole walks away with a smile on his face. Nikisch gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Nikisch swats away the attempt to clinch by Poole.
The fight stays on the outside here - Poole looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nikisch tries to clinch up.
Poole has a takedown stuffed.
Nikisch is looking to clinch.
Poole shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nikisch as he avoids it easily.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Poole stuffs the takedown attempt from Nikisch. Nikisch gets slowly back to his feet.

Nikisch shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Poole's guard.
Nikisch is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Poole is looking to stand up but Nikisch isn't so interested in that idea.

Nikisch stays in close to Poole's body and controls the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Poole is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nikisch defends well.
Poole is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nikisch is controlling him.
Art Nikisch is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nikisch stands up from guard. Let's bang!
