Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mob Barley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Beater!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barley shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Beater as he avoids it easily.
Beater looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Barley is fending him off so far but Beater persists. Nope, Barley circles away and we're back to standing.

Beater moves into range and clinches up with Barley.
Beater drops down looking for an ankle pick but Barley pulls his leg out and moves away.

Barley scores a takedown into full mount!
Beater tries to hold on but Barley postures up.

Barley stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Beater misses with a head kick.
Barley gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Beater counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

and Beater counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Beater.

Beater is looking to advance position but Barley won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barley is controlling Beater's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Beater is looking for a kimura but Barley is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Beater to get the leverage.

Barley moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Barley manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Barley stands up and waves to Beater to follow him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Barley tries to escape but Beater is in control.

and Beater counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Barley is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Horrible takedown by Beater or perhaps it was just good defense by Barley which made him look bad.

Barley dives in and grabs Beater's left leg, looking for a takedown. Beater pushes down on Barley's head and hops out.

Barley shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Beater sprawls well. Beater wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Barley gets slowly back to his feet.
Barley tries to score a power double leg takedown but Beater sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Barley somewhat.
Nice takedown defense from Barley. No joy for Beater on that attempt.

Barley shoots in and bounces Beater off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Beater is working an open guard so Barley takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Beater counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Mob Barley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Beater decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Barley's guard.

Barley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Beater manages to get himself to full guard.

Barley shoots in for a takedown but Beater shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Beater counters with a left and a right that stings Barley.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Beater rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Barley moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barley controls Beater momentarily but Beater frees himself.
Barley is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Beater is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Barley can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Beater controls the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Beater rushes Barley and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Beater tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Barley gets control of Beater's arms and successfully pulls guard. Barley will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Barley has Beater pulled in close to control his posture.

Barley is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Beater is pressed up against the cage. Barley has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Beater down to the mat. Beater avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Beater counters with a single leg into guard. Barley didn't expect that.

Barley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Barley had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Beater is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Barley Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Beater's back instead.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Barley seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Beater for as long as he can get away with.

Barley is looking for the choke from the back position but Beater is controlling his hands well.
Beater trying to control the action but Barley just sinks the hooks in.
Barley has good solid back control here.
