Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Slewton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Boyce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boyce has chosen Bert & Ernie - Ante Up as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Slewton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Boyce!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slewton displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Boyce throws out the jab.
Boyce digs a good body shot into Slewton's ribs.
Tommy Boyce seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slewton ducks under a wild hook from Boyce.
Boyce throws a hook to the side of Slewton's head but Slewton sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Boyce throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Boyce scores with a crisp jab that stopped Slewton in his tracks.


It looks like Carlos Slewton has been cut.
Boyce shoots in and drives through. Slewton sprawls well.
Boyce misses with a series of wild punches.
Boyce clobbers Slewton with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Slewton shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


Slewton is rocked!
Boyce throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Slewton takes one on the button.
Oh Slewton is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Boyce lands a big uppercut and Slewton crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Slewton looks OK. Boyce waves Slewton back to his feet!

Boyce has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Boyce waves his right hand out infront of him, looking to distract Slewton. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Slewton to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Boyce must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Slewton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Slewton is trying to keep Boyce in close.
Slewton seems to have got his legs back now.
Boyce trying to control but Slewton is working from the bottom.
Boyce wants to pass the guard but Slewton is keeping the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Boyce connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Slewton throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Boyce fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Boyce tries to clinch there but Slewton circles away.
Boyce avoids a punch combination nicely.
Slewton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Boyce is fending him off so far but Slewton persists. Nope, Boyce circles away and we're back to standing.
Boyce lands with a nice body punch.
Good leg kick by Slewton there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Boyce connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Slewton shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Boyce napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Boyce avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Slewton.
Boyce tries to improve position but can't.

Boyce wants to control but Slewton postures up.
Boyce is working to avoid the ground and pound but Slewton connects with a decent elbow.
Slewton is chipping away with strikes.
Boyce is trying to get back to half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Boyce wants to clinch up but Slewton keeps it at a distance.
The fighters circling - Boyce throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Boyce thumps Slewton with a low kick.
Boyce fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Slewton uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Boyce.
Slewton avoids a kick to the body.
Slewton closes the distance and clinches up with Boyce, looking for a takedown. Slewton pushes Boyce against the cage but Boyce circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Slewton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boyce throws a combination that misses

and Slewton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Boyce won't be happy with that.
Slewton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Slewton is breathing heavily.

Slewton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Boyce knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The strikes coming from Slewton are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Boyce throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Slewton wants to control for a moment but Boyce uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Slewton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Boyce's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Boyce's back!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boyce covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Boyce cracks Slewton with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Boyce connects with a nice looking jab.

Boyce tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Slewton counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Slewton content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Boyce manages to get to full guard.
Boyce is trying to keep Slewton in close.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Slewton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Slewton bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Slewton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Slewton's corner is telling him to maintain position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Slewton is looking to land body kicks.
Boyce connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Slewton momentarily.
Boyce throws a leg kick but Slewton moved away.
Slewton shoots for a double leg takedown but Boyce sprawls well. He's pushed Slewton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Slewton misses with a takedown attempt - Boyce sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Boyce just misses with a punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Slewton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Boyce's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Slewton connects with a nice short shot to Boyce's temple.

Slewton moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Boyce has worked his arm free - good work by Boyce!

Boyce is trying to control Slewton's posture but Slewton avoids it.
Boyce is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Boyce works his way to full guard. Good work.
Boyce pulls Slewton in close to prevent any damage.
Boyce wants to stand and escape but Slewton is having none of it.
Boyce lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Slewton!

Boyce jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Slewton is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Slewton and Boyce has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Boyce decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Boyce throws a shot to the body.
Slewton lands a slapping body shot.
Boyce takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Boyce throws a hook but Slewton avoids it easily.
Slewton fails with the takedown
and Slewton takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Boyce lands with a nice combination. Slewton backs away looking to recover.

Boyce keeping moving, preventing Slewton from controlling successfully.
Boyce looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Slewton puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Slewton works his way into side control.

Slewton is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Boyce looks calm but he's in trouble here. Slewton gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Boyce is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Slewton lets go of the hold and Boyce can pop his arm back in it's socket.
