Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Blaze Cies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baz Bones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bones has chosen Dat New New as his entrance music. Blaze Cies could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Baz Bones's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Blaze Cies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Baz Bones!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bones throws a quick inside leg kick.

Cies shoots in and bounces Bones off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bones can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cies controls the pace.
Bones has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Cies has passed into side control.
Bones looking for a sweep but Cies has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Bones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cies tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bones really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bones wants to get back to his feet.
Cies controlling the pace for now.
Cies's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Cies working for a submission but Bones is keeping him at bay.

Bones wants to hold on but Cies pushes him away.
Cies throwing strikes here but Bones is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Cies looking to control but Bones is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bones throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bones wants to control but Cies is having none of it.
Bones is desperately trying to improve his position but Cies has a good base and remains in mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blaze Cies dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bones looks to land a body kick but Cies moved away.
Bones misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cies.

Cies closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bones is not content to let Cies control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cies tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bones tries to buck Cies off but Cies is having none of it.
Bones struggling a bit here.
Bones is looking to regain half guard here but Cies keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bones can't do much from the bottom here.
Bones is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A control attempt from Bones but he's now mounted!
Bones tries to hold on but Cies pushes him away.
Cies trying to control but Bones is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bones manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Cies trying to mount his opponent but Bones defends it.
Bones wants to improve his position but Cies is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cies trying to control the action but Bones is working from the bottom.
Bones tries to roll over but Cies keeps him under control.
Cies is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blaze Cies dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Bones throws a head kick that misses.
Cies tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bones was well out of range. Poor timing from Cies.
Bones misses with the combination.
Cies has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Bones.
Bones slaps away a takedown attempt from Cies, before circling back to the center of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cies dives in and grabs Bones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bones pushes down on Cies's head and hops out.
Bones throws a head kick but Cies moves out of range.
A head kick from Bones lands but Cies takes it in his stride.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bones looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bones thumps Cies with a low kick.
Baz Bones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Cies feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cies passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Cies controlling the position from side mount.
Bones wants to control but Cies postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bones is trying to buck Cies off.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Bones bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Bones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bones delivers a nice body kick.
Cies shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Bones thuds his shin into the meat of Cies's side.
Cies slips a jab and a cross from Bones.
Cies blocks a head kick by Bones.
Bones tries to clinch up.
Baz Bones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Cies closes the distance and clinches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bones trying to control the position but instead, Cies has worked for underhooks and has pushed Bones into the cage.

Cies works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Cies controls from within his opponent's guard.
Cies passes Bones's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Baz Bones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Blaze Cies is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Bones actively working from the bottom here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Blaze Cies showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cies, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
