The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

That has opened up Mauricio Nicolosi's cut even more.
Mendez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nicolosi.

Nicolosi ducks straight into an uppercut from Mendez and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Nicolosi manages to regain guard straight away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nicolosi takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Mendez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nicolosi takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Mendez dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Mendez scores with a one two! Nicolosi had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Mendez scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Nicolosi doesn't seem bothered though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nicolosi is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mendez.

The cut above Mauricio Nicolosi's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Nicolosi takes a jab right on the kisser.
Mendez tries to bum rush Nicolosi with a series of wild strikes but Nicolosi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nicolosi wants to clinch up but Mendez keeps it at a distance.
Mendez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Mauricio Nicolosi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendez bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Nicolosi's head backwards.

Mauricio Nicolosi's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Mendez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mendez is looking to wear down Nicolosi with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
