PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mirror (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pung Rundgung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rundgung has chosen Bullsonparade as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Pung Rundgung!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mirror throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Rundgung closes the distance and clinches.

Rundgung manages to break the clinch.
Rundgung misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mirror.
Rundgung lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mirror circles away quickly and effectively.

Rundgung clinches up against the cage.
Mirror has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Mirror struggles to land a body shot inside as Rundgung controls his hands.
Mirror takes a shot to the head.
Mirror wants a takedown but no success here.
Mirror tries to pull guard but Rundgung won't allow it.

Rundgung jumps into guard, dragging Mirror to the mat.
Rundgung wants to get back to his feet but Mirror is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Rundgung pulls Mirror in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rundgung is wriggling around but Mirror manages to pass to half guard.

Mirror tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Mirror blocks the strikes from Rundgung.
Rundgung is doing well to control the position and prevent Mirror from advancing to side control.

Rundgung tries to roll over but Mirror keeps him under control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mirror misses with a takedown attempt - Rundgung sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Mirror clinches but Rundgung breaks the clinch

and Rundgung decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mirror's guard.

Mirror is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rundgung defends well.
Mirror is breathing heavily.

Rundgung looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mirror with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mirror is staying active underneath Rundgung, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rundgung in particular looking to stall.
Mirror tries to roll over but Rundgung keeps him under control.
Rundgung is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mirror wants to control but Rundgung is keeping busy.

Rundgung tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Mirror counters with a thumping low kick.
Mirror misses with a takedown attempt

and Rundgung moves into the clinch.
Mirror jumps guard but Rundgung stands there with Mirror around his waist. Mirror gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mirror is trying to maintain a safe position but Rundgung gets an underhook and turns Mirror into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Mirror shoots for a double leg takedown but Rundgung sprawls well. He's pushed Mirror's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rundgung tries to clinch there but Mirror circles away.
Rundgung keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Rundgung fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mirror, pushing him back against the cage.
Rundgung lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mirror backwards.

Rundgung's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mirror shoots for a takedown but Rundgung saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rundgung will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rundgung pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rundgung throws out a loose jab but Mirror uses good head movement to avoid it.

Mirror shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rundgung pinned against the cage. Rundgung gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rundgung ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rundgung no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Pung Rundgung showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Rundgung winds up and cracks Mirror with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rundgung is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mirror is surviving well by controlling Rundgung's body position as best he can.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Rundgung avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Rundgung counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mirror's guard now.
Rundgung really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mirror. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rundgung slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Rundgung must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rundgung stands up and waves to Mirror to follow him.

Pung Rundgung comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rundgung has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
