Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brick Flag!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bryan Bernie!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flag wants to clinch.
Flag throws a series of punches but Bernie moves out of range.
Bernie tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Flag paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Brick Flag seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Flag tries to clinch but Bernie moves away

and Bernie counters by clinching up.
Flag working hard to break the clinch.

so Bernie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bernie throwing strikes from guard but Flag blocks nicely.
Bernie stands and throws Flag's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Flag knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bernie on the ground.
Bernie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Flag keeps working.

Flag stops Bernie from passing to mount.

Bernie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Bernie is trying to get an arm triangle but Flag is defending well.

Bernie swings around for an armbar but Flag sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bernie's guard.

Flag stands up from Bernie's guard - Flag perhaps looking for a knockout.
Flag tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Bernie moves into the clinch.

Flag breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bernie checks a leg kick.
Bernie throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Flag stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Flag throws and low kick but Bernie moves out of range easily.
Flag wants to clinch but Bernie slips to the side

and Bernie counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bernie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Flag swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bernie works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bernie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Bernie tries to pass the half guard into mount. Flag knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Bernie is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Flag is staying active underneath Bernie, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Bernie is looking for submissions but instead, Flag has regained full guard.
Bernie wants to pass the guard but Flag is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bernie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bernie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Flag is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Flag is breathing heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Flag tries to clinch but Bernie moves away

and Bernie counters by clinching up.
Flag throws an elbow but it misses.
Flag misses with a hook from the clinch.

Flag escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A right-left combo lands from Flag.
A punch combination from Flag misses.
Flag closes the distance looking to clinch

and Bernie counters by moving into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryan Bernie dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bernie clinches but Flag breaks the clinch

and Flag counters by clinching up.
Flag lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Flag has had enough of the clinch but Bernie keeps him there for the moment.
Flag looking to throw knees to the head but Bernie is blocking nicely.
A frustrated look appears on Flag's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Flag tries a knee to the head but Bernie blocks it.

Bernie ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bernie no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Bernie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Flag is defending against the submission attempts here by Bernie.

Bernie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bernie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Flag's head.
Bernie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Flag!

Bernie jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Flag manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Bernie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Flag, who protects the arm well.
Flag is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bernie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Flag is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Flag is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bernie asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Flag on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Flag tries to get out of the position.
Flag tries to kick Bernie off but Bernie keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Bernie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Bernie working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Flag looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Bernie! Submission of the night perhaps?
