PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kizzy Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oishi Yoshio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoshio has chosen "Stronger" by Kanye West as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kizzy Suzuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Oishi Yoshio!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoshio fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Yoshio tries to clinch there but Suzuki circles away.
Suzuki moves out of range of the leg kick from Yoshio.
Yoshio delivers a nice body kick.
Suzuki misses with a double jab.

Yoshio moves into the clinch.
Yoshio is struggling to control the position.

Suzuki blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Suzuki is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Yoshio tries to land knees in the clinch but Suzuki avoids the damage to the body.

Suzuki has had enough of the clinch but Yoshio keeps him there for the moment.
Suzuki wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Yoshio wants the takedown. Suzuki is fighting it off but Yoshio persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Suzuki's guard against the cage.

Yoshio passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Yoshio wants to control for a moment but Suzuki uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Suzuki content to control rather than advance.
Yoshio makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Yoshio.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Yoshio wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Suzuki misses with a wild combination.
A big right from Suzuki misses.
Nice defenses there by Yoshio.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Suzuki missing with a left hand there. Yoshio was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Yoshio explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Suzuki on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Yoshio. Yoshio obviously looking to wear him down.
Suzuki misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oishi Yoshio dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Suzuki swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Suzuki gets caught flat footed, as Yoshio shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Yoshio wants to control from the top but Suzuki keeps moving.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Yoshio accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Yoshio tries to free his leg and advance position but Suzuki is retaining full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Suzuki will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Yoshio avoids the body shot from Suzuki.
Suzuki throws a combination. Yoshio tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Suzuki bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Yoshio's head backwards.
Suzuki fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Yoshio feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Suzuki's calf.
Yoshio throws a solid leg kick but Suzuki takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Yoshio.
Suzuki throws a right hand that Yoshio ducks under and follows up with a left that Yoshio also avoids with ease.
Good leg kick by Yoshio there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Yoshio cracks the inside of Suzuki's front leg.
Suzuki ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Yoshio moves away.
Kizzy Suzuki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slow jab from Suzuki misses its intended target.
Suzuki moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Oishi Yoshio has been cut.
Kizzy Suzuki is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Suzuki looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Yoshio feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Suzuki's calf.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Yoshio throws a leg kick which misses Suzuki's front leg but catches the back leg as Suzuki tries to avoid it.
Suzuki takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Suzuki sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Yoshio moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Yoshio - that will leave a mark!

Yoshio has closed the distance and engaged Suzuki in a clinch.
Yoshio's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Suzuki is trying to break the clinch but Yoshio is controlling him.
Yoshio lands a good knee to the midsection. Suzuki won't want to take too many of those.
Yoshio is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Yoshio has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Suzuki regains guard immediately.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oishi Yoshio showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Suzuki tries to lock up and control but Yoshio gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Suzuki is trying desperately to improve position.
Yoshio tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Yoshio is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Suzuki can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

And that's the end of the fight!
Oishi Yoshio comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Yoshio has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
