Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Crouch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacob Crouch!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crouch looks to land a combination but Rivera avoids it well.
Crouch throws a series of punches but Rivera avoids them all with ease.
Crouch shoots in for a takedown but Rivera shows good takedown defense.
Rivera shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Crouch but Crouch pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rivera fails in his attempt to clinch.

Rivera drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Crouch is looking for a sweep.
Crouch is trying to control Rivera's posture but Rivera avoids it.
Rivera controls the position.

Crouch is not content to let Rivera control the position.
Crouch tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rivera wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Crouch can do anything to dispel that myth.
Crouch is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Crouch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rivera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Crouch is not content to let Rivera control the position.
Crouch prevents Rivera from improving position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jose Rivera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rivera is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Crouch uses the cage to get back to his feet.

and Crouch cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Crouch wants to land a leg kick but Rivera is out of range.
Rivera avoids a kick to the body.
A cross from Crouch lands.
Crouch displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rivera.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rivera.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Rivera will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Crouch fails to land with a series of punches.
Crouch throws an overhand right that lands on Rivera's shoulder, as Rivera tries to avoid the shot.
Rivera moves out of range of the strikes.

Rivera closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rivera lands in his opponent's guard.
Crouch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crouch wants to stand and escape but Rivera is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Crouch utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rivera shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crouch as he jumps to the side.
Crouch jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Crouch scores with a nice right hand.
Crouch wants to slow Rivera down by chopping away at his legs.
Crouch shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Crouch lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Crouch keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Crouch connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jacob Crouch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Crouch finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Crouch tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rivera shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Crouch as he avoids it easily.

Crouch shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rivera's guard.

Rivera escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Crouch gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rivera is trying to keep Crouch in close.
Crouch must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Crouch decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Crouch lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Rivera takes one on the button.
Crouch has his takedown stuffed

and Rivera counters with a takedown into side control.
Crouch is looking for a sweep.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jacob Crouch comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Crouch has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
