PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Noah Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rilley Ribbler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas comes to the cage accompanied by Unique is my dove. Rilley Ribbler is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Noah Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rilley Ribbler!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch but Ribbler swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Thomas fails to land the takedown.
Ribbler scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Ribbler feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ribbler gets to his feet - Thomas follows without any prompting.

and Ribbler counters with a nice double leg into side control. Thomas won't be happy with that.
Ribbler content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Ribbler tries to score with some ground and pound. Thomas controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Thomas tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee asks Ribbler politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ribbler prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thomas tries to bench press Ribbler off him but Ribbler keeps the position.
Ribbler remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Let's hope that Ribbler has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Thomas is looking to reverse the position.
Thomas is being controlled here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Ribbler decides to stand up, so the ref orders Thomas to his feet.
Thomas tries to clinch but Ribbler moves away

and Ribbler decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Thomas's guard.
Thomas is trying to keep Ribbler in close.
Thomas is really struggling to control Ribbler but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Ribbler forces his way into half guard.
Thomas is breathing heavily.
Ribbler trying to pass the guard but Thomas defending well.

Ribbler is controlling the pace.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Ribbler is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Thomas has managed to free his arm - good work.

Ribbler is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Thomas is just riding it out for now. Ribbler eventually gives up the hold.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Thomas is trying to escape back to his feet but Ribbler uses the scramble to pass into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ribbler feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Thomas throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ribbler uses it to pass to side control.
Ribbler happy to just control the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thomas tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Thomas wants to get back to his feet but Ribbler drags him back down.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ribbler controlling from side mount.
Ribbler slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Thomas.
Thomas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Ribbler controlling the pace for now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Thomas flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Rilley Ribbler has got the better of the ground game so far.
Thomas is controlling an arm, preventing Ribbler from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Thomas is looking to get to half guard.
Ribbler sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Ribbler lands with some strikes.

Despite being in the dominant position, Rilley Ribbler just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thomas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Ribbler shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Thomas napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ribbler moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ribbler wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Thomas, who protects the arm well.
Ribbler content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Thomas struggling a bit here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rilley Ribbler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Thomas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ribbler looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Ribbler takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Ribbler is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Thomas is looking for a sweep. Ribbler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ribbler is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Thomas is in trouble now - Ribbler has advanced to mount!

The referee warns Thomas that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Thomas tries to lock up and control but Ribbler gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Thomas swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Ribbler controlling his opponent.

Ribbler stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Ribbler in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Ribbler advances nicely into full mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rilley Ribbler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ribbler has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
