PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between OJ Spelgoth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nelson Rockefeller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rockefeller is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Notion. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Nelson Rockefeller was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rockefeller throws the left hand but Spelgoth avoids the punch easily.
Rockefeller looks to land a left hand but Spelgoth moved out of range nicely.
Rockefeller swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Spelgoth.
Rockefeller lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Spelgoth defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rockefeller.
Rockefeller rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Spelgoth moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Spelgoth dives in and grabs Rockefeller's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rockefeller pushes down on Spelgoth's head and hops out.

and Spelgoth counters with a single leg into guard. Rockefeller didn't expect that.
Rockefeller is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Spelgoth is controlling him.

Rockefeller escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Spelgoth gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Spelgoth is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Rockefeller working for a triangle but Spelgoth defends it easily.

Rockefeller has his foot on Spelgoth's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Spelgoth works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Spelgoth drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Spelgoth jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Spelgoth has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rockefeller has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Spelgoth can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Spelgoth is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A decent looking cross lands there for Rockefeller.
Rockefeller tries for a takedown but Spelgoth circles away easily

and Spelgoth counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
OJ Spelgoth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nelson Rockefeller.
Spelgoth moves nicely into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rockefeller is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Spelgoth off and has taken his back!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
