PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Hain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cassius Slay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hain comes into the arena with Shadow Boxing by Nasty Habits blaring out of the sound system. Slay comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Wu-Tang Clan - Triumph kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Hain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cassius Slay!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Slay throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hain avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hain misses with a two punch combination.
Hain ducks under a wild hook from Slay.

and Hain counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Slay!
Hain throws some wild stikes that Slay manages to avoid easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slay can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slay tries to avoid it but Hain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slay to the ground. Slay escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Slay stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Slay wants it to stay on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Slay tries to clinch but Hain moves away

and Hain counters with a takedown into side control.

Hain is trying to get an arm triangle but Slay is defending well.
Slay sneaks back into half guard.
Slay avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hain.
Sam Hain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hain in particular looking to stall.
Slay keeping hold of Hain's head, controlling as best he can.
Cassius Slay has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hain stalling away here and it's allowed Slay to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hain, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
