Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Holliday (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Duthie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holliday's entrance music is Break Stuff. A fine choice. On his way into the cage it seems that John Holliday has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily John Holliday seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Holliday!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rick Duthie!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jorge Garcia and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holliday lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Holliday moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Holliday fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.


Duthie is rocked!
A nice inside leg kick there by Holliday. That's going to slow Duthie down.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Duthie pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Duthie throws a nice looking combination but Holliday bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Duthie just misses with a punch to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for Duthie. That snapped Holliday's head back.

Duthie darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Holliday is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Duthie pulls his head out easily.
Holliday wants to improve his position but Duthie is controlling well.
Duthie is nestled in close to Holliday, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Duthie is looking for a kimura but Holliday is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Duthie to get the leverage.
Holliday slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Holliday throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Holliday is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Duthie is aware though and is defending well.
Duthie is in close to Holliday's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Holliday shoots in for a takedown but Duthie shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Duthie throws a right and a left that Holliday avoids nicely.

Holliday tries for a takedown but Duthie sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Duthie moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Holliday connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Duthie throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Holliday.

Holliday pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Holliday throws out a loose jab but Duthie uses good head movement to avoid it.

Good work by Holliday as he checks the leg kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Duthie crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Holliday - the referee stops the clock and Duthie gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Holliday. Duthie manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Holliday lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Holliday fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Duthie doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Duthie fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Holliday, pushing him back against the cage.
Holliday throws a head punch that misses.
Holliday's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Duthie can't break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

That was a close second round but I would say that John Holliday will probably get the nod.

Holliday jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Duthie is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Duthie and Holliday has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

and Holliday counters with a three punch combo that has Duthie backing up. Duthie nods at Holliday to acknowledge the strikes.

Duthie shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Duthie was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

And that's the end of the fight!

I think Holliday has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
