Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Torburn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Jones!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torburn fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jones steps into range and cracks Torburn with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Torburn flops backwards and Jones dives into his guard looking to finish!
It looks like Peter Torburn has been cut.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Torburn is keeping the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jones's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jones working some strikes from top position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones postures up in Torburn's guard and throws a big left but Torburn blocks it.
Torburn working a defensive guard here.
Jones trying to control but Torburn is working from the bottom.
Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones throws a strike but Torburn rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Jones doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Torburn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes.
Torburn takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Torburn is breathing heavily.
Donk. Jones catches Torburn right on the button with a cross.
Johnny Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Torburn takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Jones cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Johnny Jones!
