The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Uesugi tries to keep at a distance but Homma has taken the fight into the clinch.
Uesugi looking for a takedown.
Uesugi wants a takedown.
Homma gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

It looks like Shizuka Uesugi has been cut.
Homma lands a damaging elbow.
Homma lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Homma lands an elbow inside that Uesugi shrugs off.

That has opened up Shizuka Uesugi's cut even more.
Uesugi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Homma pulls his leg out and moves away.
Masaharu Homma has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shizuka Uesugi.
Uesugi tries for a takedown but Homma sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Homma closes the distance and clinches.
Uesugi takes an elbow to the forehead.
Homma lands an elbow inside that Uesugi shrugs off.

The cut above Shizuka Uesugi's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Shizuka Uesugi's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
