Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between River Walken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ziggy Overeem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ziggy Overeem has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, River Walken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ziggy Overeem!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walken moves in looking to clinch but Overeem pushes him off.
Walken looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Overeem pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Overeem throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Walken's waist but Walken gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Overeem off to one side.
Overeem tries to clinch up

and Walken counters with a single leg into guard. Overeem didn't expect that.
Overeem can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Walken controls the pace.
Overeem wants to get back to his feet but Walken is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Overeem is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Overeem not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Overeem connects with a nice short shot to Walken's temple.
Overeem is looking to advance position but Walken won't allow it.
Walken might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Overeem throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Walken is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Overeem not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Overeem working the head and body with strikes.
Walken keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Overeem is trying to control. Walken wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Overeem throwing shots but Walken is blocking nicely.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Overeem looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Overeem gets a clinch.
Overeem fails to pull guard.
Walken trying to land knees to the body.
Overeem lands a damaging elbow.
Overeem lands a knee to the body.
Overeem connects with a knee to the head.
Overeem with a knee to the head.
Walken is pressed up against the cage. Overeem has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Walken down to the mat. Walken avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
River Walken has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ziggy Overeem.
Overeem throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Walken.
A head kick misses from Overeem.
Overeem throws a sloppy head kick and Walken moves out of range easily.
Overeem feints and then cracks Walken's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Walken down.

Walken drives through with a takedown into guard.
Walken controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Overeem is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Overeem thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Overeem trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Overeem can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Walken controls the pace.
Walken is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there.
Walken wants to control from the top but Overeem keeps moving.

Overeem looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Overeem tries to clinch

and Walken counters with a single leg into guard. Overeem didn't expect that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

River Walken dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Walken thows a leg kick but Overeem checks it
and Overeem counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Walken is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Ziggy Overeem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Walken circles away from the clinch attempt

and Walken counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Walken.
Overeem throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Walken stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Overeem moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Overeem is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Overeem looks to clinch

and Walken counters with a shoot takedown. Overeem fights it but they end up in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Overeem is trying to control the position but Walken postures up.
Overeem being controlled here, momentarily.

Overeem is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Walken is aware though and is defending well.

Walken decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Overeem tries to clinch up

and Walken counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Overeem tries to land knees in the clinch but Walken avoids the damage to the body.
Overeem tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Walken avoids it.
Walken drops down looking for an ankle pick but Overeem pulls his leg out and moves away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Overeem tries to clinch

and Walken counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Overeem's guard now.
Overeem is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Walken avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Walken controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Walken stands up and waves to Overeem to follow him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Overeem tries to clinch

and Walken moves into the clinch.
Overeem lands a good knee to the midsection. Walken won't want to take too many of those.
Overeem misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Walken.
Overeem lands a nice knee to the body.

Walken works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Walken seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Overeem throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
River Walken overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Walken is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Walken postures up.
Walken stops Overeem from standing up.
Walken controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

River Walken dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Overeem tries a head kick but it misses.
Walken is looking to clinch but Overeem is avoiding it.

Overeem drives through and clinches with Walken against the cage.
Overeem lands an elbow inside that Walken shrugs off.

Overeem decides to pull guard.
Overeem wants to stand up but Walken is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walken stays in close to Overeem's body and controls the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Overeem looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Overeem is looking to stand up but Walken isn't so interested in that idea.
Walken not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Overeem scrambles and gets back to his feet.
River Walken is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Overeem connects with a high kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Overeem tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Walken counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Overeem's guard now.
Overeem is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Walken is controlling him.
Walken working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Walken wants to control from the top but Overeem keeps moving.
Overeem is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Walken's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Ziggy Overeem has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
River Walken is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee stands the fighters back up. River Walken just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
A thudding body kick lands there by Overeem!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Overeem misses with a few strikes there.

Walken gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Overeem connects with a nasty looking knee right to Walken's face.

And that's the end of the fight!
River Walken showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Walken, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
