Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Barry Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 2, fighting out of London, Steven Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Shaw throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Shaw wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Shaw, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Shaw against the cage but Shaw circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Shaw throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith dodges the punch combination from Shaw.

Smith slips a jab and a cross from Shaw.
Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Barry Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shaw swivels and escapes.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Shaw sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Shaw slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Shaw stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shaw wants it to stay on the feet.

Smith closes the distance looking to clinch
and Shaw counters with a two punch combo.

and Shaw counters with a crisp one two that drops Smith! Shaw thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Smith to his feet! Smith is in big trouble!
Smith is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith has his takedown stuffed
and Shaw counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steven Shaw dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Shaw throws a body punch but Smith moves out of range.

Shaw is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Smith's half guard.

Shaw is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Smith sees it coming and defends easily.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Shaw. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Smith wants to control but Shaw is keeping busy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Shaw controlling the action here.
Let's hope that Shaw has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Smith wants to get back to his feet.
Shaw wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy.

Smith wants to improve his position but Shaw is controlling well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Shaw drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Shaw is chipping away with strikes.

Shaw decides to stand up, so the ref orders Smith to his feet.
Shaw throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease.

Shaw digs a good body shot into Smith's ribs.
Smith showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shaw.
Shaw fails to land with a series of punches.
Steven Shaw seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Shaw misses with a series of wild punches.
Shaw is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Shaw misses with a body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steven Shaw showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Shaw shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Shaw was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Smith is wriggling around trying to escape.
Shaw trying to control but Smith is having none of it.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Shaw scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Smith?

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Shaw has eaten all the pies!
Smith can't escape the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Shaw looking to control and managing it successfully.
Shaw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smith wants to hold on but Shaw pushes him away.
Smith keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Shaw content just to control the position here.

Shaw is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Smith can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Smith throws a strike from the bottom but Shaw uses the opportunity to take his back.
Shaw lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Smith.
Shaw is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Shaw is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Smith is defending well though. Shaw let's go of the attempt for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith tries to escape but Shaw has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Barry Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Shaw is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Smith rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Well Shaw has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
