The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dardy leaves mailiw with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Dardy scores with a jab. mailiw acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Dardy throws a hook but mailiw avoids it easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Dardy misses the target.

mailiw shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
mailiw thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

mailiw drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dardy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now mailiw has Dardy in his guard.

mailiw looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Dardy has picked mailiw up and slammed him! mailiw can't keep hold of the triangle and Dardy manages to pass to side control!
