PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Ricky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell comes to the cage accompanied by Intro - DMX. The crowd seem to be enjoying Ricky's choice of entrance music: Momma said KNOCK U OUT!. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doug Ricky!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell dodges the punch combination from Ricky.
Ricky tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Liddell paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Liddell falls off balance throwing a combination

and Ricky counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ricky.
Liddell is trying to break free.

Ricky has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Liddell uses from the top position.

Ricky throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Ricky had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Liddell is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ricky Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Liddell's back instead.

Ricky is persistently looking for the submission but Liddell is defending it well.

Ricky struggling to land strikes to the head as Liddell covers up.

Ricky is looking for the choke from the back position but Liddell is controlling his hands well.
Liddell wants to get back to his feet.
Ricky thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Ricky looking to break Liddell's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Liddell remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Ricky will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Liddell covering up well and avoiding damage.
Ricky wants to control but Liddell is keeping busy.
Ricky looking to hold on to the position here but Liddell rolls and ends up regaining guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Doug Ricky dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ricky tries to clinch but Liddell moves out of range.
Ricky moves in looking to clinch but Liddell pushes him off.
Ricky misses with a few strikes there.
Liddell misses with a wild combination.
Ricky tries to clinch there but Liddell circles away.
Ricky has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Ricky tries to clinch up.
Ricky avoids a punch combination nicely.

Ricky has Liddell up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ricky tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Liddell paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ricky throws a series of strikes that have Liddell backpedaling.


It looks like Chuck Liddell has been cut.
Nice uppercut lands for Ricky. That snapped Liddell's head back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Liddell keeps the fight on the outside.

Ricky fails in his attempt to clinch.
Liddell misses with a combination

and Ricky holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Ricky is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Ricky receives a warning from the referee for stalling.

Ricky jumps into guard, dragging Liddell to the mat.
Ricky looking to hit a scissor sweep but Liddell is one step ahead there.

Ricky is looking to sinch up a triangle. Liddell throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Ricky's body to avoid the submission. Ricky has instead reached around Liddell's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Ricky arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Doug Ricky!
