Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Romero Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Romero Gracie looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Romero Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ed Reed!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in and drives through. Reed sprawls well.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Reed as he avoids it easily.
Reed fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gracie.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Romero Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reed keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Reed keeps the fight on the outside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Reed.

Reed working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Gracie stops Reed from passing to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Reed wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Gracie is working hard here to advance position.
Gracie wants to control but Reed postures up.

Reed tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reed has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Reed thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Gracie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Reed looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Reed is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gracie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gracie is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Reed is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Gracie looks calm but he's in trouble here. Reed gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Gracie is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Reed lets go of the hold and Gracie can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ed Reed!
