The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cage looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Cage feints and as Royal raises his hands in defense, Cage changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Royal trying to keep a closed guard but Cage is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Royal being controlled here, momentarily.

Cage stands up and waves to Royal to follow him.
Danny Cage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Royal scores with a kick to the body.
Royal defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cage.
Royal rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cage moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cage throws a lazy body kick

and Royal counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cage bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Royal's guard.
Cage wants to stand but Royal is controlling his posture from full guard.
Cage looks gassed!

Royal has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Cage doesn't defend quickly enough and Royal has managed to lock this one up! Can Cage escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Royal on a fantastic submission victory.
