Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Richard Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janusz Niekonieczny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Niekonieczny is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Head.

It looks like Janusz Niekonieczny has been cut.
Head fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Head tests Niekonieczny's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Niekonieczny dodges the punch combination from Head.
Head connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Niekonieczny momentarily.
Richard Head seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Niekonieczny rushes Head and presses him up against the cage.
Niekonieczny tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Head smiles and moves away.
Head misses the shot to the body.
Niekonieczny shoots in for a takedown but Head shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Niekonieczny advances to half guard.
Niekonieczny wants to take a breather but Head is having none of it.
Niekonieczny content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Niekonieczny seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Head does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Despite being in the dominant position, Janusz Niekonieczny just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Head lunges at Niekonieczny with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Niekonieczny's hand.

That has opened up Janusz Niekonieczny's cut even more.
Niekonieczny tries to clinch up but Head circles away and keeps his distance.
Niekonieczny tries to close the distance and clinch but Head swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Head slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Head throws out a leg kick but Niekonieczny moves out of range and Head only half commits.

Niekonieczny fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Head sprawls well initially but Niekonieczny persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Head tries to kick Niekonieczny off but Niekonieczny keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Head moves into full guard.

Niekonieczny looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Head has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Niekonieczny has passed into side control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Head being controlled for a moment.
Niekonieczny tries to move into full mount but can't pass Head's legs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Niekonieczny is looking to take a break and control but Head is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Niekonieczny shoots in for a double leg but Head sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Head lands a left and a right that send Niekonieczny crashing to the mat, dazed. Head thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Niekonieczny moves out of range as Head strikes.
Niekonieczny fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Head throws a lazy right hand but Niekonieczny sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Head lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

The cut above Janusz Niekonieczny's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Head scores with a jab. Niekonieczny acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Niekonieczny is rocked!
Head lands with a big right hook that stumbles Niekonieczny - he's out on his feet here! Head follows up with another monster hook that separates Niekonieczny from consciousness! Niekonieczny falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Head stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
