PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sandro Rtuwi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorgen Kruth Kruth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kruth has chosen The Viking as his entrance music. Kruth has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sandro Rtuwi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jorgen Kruth Kruth!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rtuwi takes the fight into the clinch.
Kruth looks gassed!
Rtuwi is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Rtuwi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rtuwi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Rtuwi is controlling Kruth's posture.
Kruth scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Rtuwi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kruth doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kruth manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rtuwi pulls Kruth in close to his closed guard and prevents Kruth from doing any damage or advancing position.
Rtuwi trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kruth trying to control the position from guard on top but Rtuwi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kruth stuffs the takedown attempt from Rtuwi. Rtuwi gets slowly back to his feet.
Kruth throws the left hand but Rtuwi avoids the punch easily.
Rtuwi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kruth misses with a body kick.

and Rtuwi holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rtuwi tries to score a body lock takedown but Kruth shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rtuwi pulls Kruth into guard.
Kruth would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Rtuwi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kruth on the ground.
Kruth won't allow Rtuwi to sweep him here.

Kruth has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rtuwi is proving hard to escape from.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kruth wants to clinch

and Rtuwi counters by clinching up.
Rtuwi has Kruth pressed against the cage, preventing Kruth from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kruth misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Rtuwi.

Rtuwi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rtuwi closes the distance and clinches up with Kruth, looking for a takedown. Rtuwi pushes Kruth against the cage but Kruth circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sandro Rtuwi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kruth wants to break free but Rtuwi has control.

Kruth pulls guard effortlessly.
Kruth is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rtuwi stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Rtuwi rushes Kruth and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kruth wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rtuwi keeps control of Kruth as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Rtuwi creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Kruth has had enough of the clinch but Rtuwi keeps him there for the moment.
Rtuwi keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kruth's efforts to push away.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Rtuwi looking for a takedown.
Kruth tries to break the clinch but Rtuwi is controlling the position.
Kruth wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

A frustrated look appears on Kruth's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Rtuwi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Rtuwi holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rtuwi prevents Kruth from breaking the clinch.
Kruth is looking to break free of the clinch but Rtuwi has double underhooks.

Rtuwi has hold of one of Kruth's legs. Kruth is fighting the takedown attempt but Rtuwi gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sandro Rtuwi dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Rtuwi holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Rtuwi pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Rtuwi has Kruth pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rtuwi pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kruth tumbling to the mat - Rtuwi dives into Kruth's guard.
Kruth manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rtuwi manages to get himself to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kruth wants to get up but he can't break Rtuwi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Kruth wants to stand and escape but Rtuwi is having none of it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kruth is on top in guard.

Kruth postures up in Rtuwi's guard and throws a big left but Rtuwi blocks it.
Rtuwi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rtuwi tries to get out of the position.
Kruth with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Kruth wants to control from the top but Rtuwi keeps moving.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kruth drops an elbow to the side of Rtuwi's head.
Rtuwi wants to improve his position but Kruth is controlling well.
Rtuwi is working hard here to advance position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sandro Rtuwi dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Kruth closes the distance but Rtuwi moves to the side
and Rtuwi counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Kruth tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kruth throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Kruth tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rtuwi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rtuwi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kruth to his feet.
Rtuwi fails with the takedown.

Rtuwi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kruth's half guard.
Kruth works his way to full guard. Good work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kruth looking for a sweep. Not yet Kruth, not yet.
Rtuwi trying to control but Kruth is working from the bottom.
Rtuwi wanted to stand there but Kruth had control of the position.

Kruth has his foot on Rtuwi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rtuwi works his way back into a safe position though.
Kruth controls Rtuwi momentarily but Rtuwi frees himself.

Kruth wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Rtuwi manages to pass to side control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kruth is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rtuwi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rtuwi's back!

Kruth lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Kruth has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Kruth thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Kruth lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Kruth has Rtuwi flattened out and is raining down punches.
Rtuwi is keeping busy.
Kruth is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Rtuwi. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Kruth has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kruth lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Rtuwi.
Rtuwi is really stuck here.
Rtuwi is covering up but some of the strikes from Kruth are getting through and doing damage.
Rtuwi has hold of Kruth's arm. He needs to escape this position sooner or later but for now he's happy enough to control the position and prevent the submission attempts.
Kruth scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Kruth lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Rtuwi breaks Kruth's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jorgen Kruth Kruth comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rtuwi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
