Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Juanie Mexicano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Godlewski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Godlewski will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juanie Mexicano!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Godlewski!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mexicano shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Godlewski sprawls well. Godlewski wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mexicano gets slowly back to his feet.
Mexicano looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Godlewski is fending him off so far but Mexicano persists. Nope, Godlewski circles away and we're back to standing.
Mexicano is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Godlewski throws the kick towards the body but Mexicano avoids it.
Godlewski shoots and misses

and Mexicano counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Godlewski strikes from the bottom but Mexicano uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Godlewski manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Godlewski is trying to control but can't.
Godlewski is looking for a sweep. Mexicano is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mexicano tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Godlewski tries to get to full guard but Mexicano has control of the leg.
Mexicano wants to lay and pray for a moment but Godlewski keeps working.
Mexicano knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Godlewski on the ground.

Godlewski is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mexicano pulls his head out easily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Mexicano shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mexicano was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mexicano goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Godlewski turns into him and now he's in Mexicano's guard.
Godlewski is standing up over Mexicano. Mexicano looks to escape but Godlewski dives into side control.

Mexicano is trying to get back to half guard.
Mexicano is trying to buck Godlewski off.
Mexicano is breathing heavily.
Godlewski controlling the position.

Godlewski stands up and we're back to a striking position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Mexicano shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Mexicano lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Mexicano stands up out of the half guard.
Mexicano throws a head kick that misses.
Mexicano doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Godlewski counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Godlewski.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Godlewski tries to free his leg and advance position but Mexicano is retaining full guard.

Mexicano might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Godlewski wants to control from the top but Mexicano keeps moving.
Juanie Mexicano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mexicano throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Godlewski escapes and throws Mexicano's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Godlewski rushes Mexicano and presses him up against the cage.
Godlewski looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Godlewski tries to score a body lock takedown but Mexicano shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Godlewski has Mexicano pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mexicano manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Juanie Mexicano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Godlewski.

Mexicano breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Mexicano shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Godlewski takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Mexicano throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Godlewski because Mexicano loaded up on that one.
Godlewski is trying desperately to improve position.
Mexicano cracks Godlewski with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Godlewski bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Mexicano looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Godlewski passes into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Juanie Mexicano will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Godlewski lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Godlewski has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mexicano has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Godlewski is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Mexicano has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

so Mexicano counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Godlewski has a closed guard, preventing Mexicano from standing up.
Godlewski wants to sweep here but Mexicano controlling him for the moment.
Godlewski manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mexicano manages to get himself to full guard.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mexicano tries to advance to mount but can't.
Mexicano is looking to take a break and control but Godlewski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Mexicano decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Godlewski's guard.
Mexicano connects with a couple of short punches.
Mexicano postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mexicano would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Juanie Mexicano had his way with Chris Godlewski in that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Mexicano tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Godlewski swivels and escapes.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juanie Mexicano. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Godlewski ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Godlewski no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mexicano looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Godlewski has picked Mexicano up and slammed him! Mexicano can't keep hold of the triangle and Godlewski manages to pass to side control!
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Mexicano gets the takedown into side control.

Mexicano decides to stand up, so the ref orders Godlewski to his feet.

Mexicano shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Godlewski's guard.
Godlewski controls Mexicano momentarily but Mexicano frees himself.

Mexicano stands and steps away. Godlewski gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The fight stays on the outside here - Godlewski looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mexicano pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mexicano fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Juanie Mexicano is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Godlewski is looking for a kimura but Mexicano is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Godlewski to get the leverage.

Chris Godlewski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mexicano has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
