PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derek Bacon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mini Boxo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bacon comes to the cage accompanied by Just Like You Imagined by Nine Inch Nails. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boxo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bacon has time to react.
Bacon looks for a takedown but Boxo sprawls well.

Boxo lands a left and a right that send Bacon crashing to the mat, dazed. Boxo thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Derek Bacon has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bacon uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Boxo.
Boxo throws a series of punches but Bacon moves out of range.
Bacon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Boxo sends Bacon crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Boxo is motioning to the referee to let Bacon up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Bacon is rocked!
Boxo throws a hook but Bacon avoids it easily.
Oh Bacon is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mini Boxo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boxo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bacon seems to have got his legs back now.

Bacon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Bacon is trying to get an arm triangle but Boxo is defending well.

Boxo wants to get back to his feet but Bacon drags him back down.
Boxo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bacon's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Boxo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bacon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Boxo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Boxo.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boxo seems keen to control Bacon's posture.
Bacon trying to control the position from guard on top but Boxo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boxo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boxo is trying to keep Bacon in close.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bacon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boxo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boxo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Boxo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Bacon. Bacon circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Bacon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boxo tries to avoid it but Bacon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boxo to the ground. Boxo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derek Bacon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boxo misses with a hook.
Boxo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bacon was well out of range. Poor timing from Boxo.
Boxo takes a swing at Bacon's ribcage but misses.
Boxo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A telegraphed right hand from Boxo misses the target.

Boxo jabs at Bacon's body.
Bacon is breathing heavily.
Boxo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bacon manages to avoid it.
Boxo thuds a left hand into Bacon's body.
Bacon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boxo tries to avoid it but Bacon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boxo to the ground. Boxo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bacon closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Boxo throws a right hand that Bacon ducks under and follows up with a left that Bacon also avoids with ease.
Boxo misses with a hook.
Boxo swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Bacon misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Boxo drops Bacon with a beautiful combination! Bacon stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Boxo is looking for the KO!
Boxo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mini Boxo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Boxo throws a body punch but Bacon moves out of range.

Boxo lands an uppercut, right on the button! Bacon tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
