Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frak Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Tar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Tar is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frak Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Tar!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mir shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tar defends it nicely.
Tar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mir.

Tar gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mir to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mir won't allow Tar to sweep him here.

Mir drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Tar dives on top into guard.
Tar wants to get up but he can't break Mir's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Mir looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mir keeping moving, preventing Tar from controlling successfully.
Tar wants to stand but Mir is controlling his posture from full guard.
Tar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mir is keeping the position for now.

Mir isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Tar stacks Mir on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Tar!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
You can see the frustration on Mir's face as Tar controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mir tries to control but Tar manages to take his back.
Mir just trying to survive but Tar is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Mir staying busy and making it hard for Tar to control.

Mir defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Tar's arms.
Tar keeps control of the position as Mir tries to break free.
Mir is breathing heavily.

Mir controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Tar looking for the RNC.
Tar wants to control but Mir is keeping busy.
Mir might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mir tries to escape but Tar has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Mir trying to control the action but Tar just sinks the hooks in.
Tar is looking to control Mir but Mir is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mir rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jack Tar will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Tar misses with a series of wild punches.
Frak Mir is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tar throws a right and a left that Mir avoids nicely.
Mir shoots in looking for a takedown. Tar tries to sprawl out of it but Mir keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tar displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mir.

Mir drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Mir tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tar is not content to let Mir control the position.
Tar tries to bench press Mir off him but Mir keeps the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tar is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Tar is letting Mir control him for a moment.
Tar is trying to get back to his feet.
Mir fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mir tries to move into range but Tar moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Tar tries to bum rush Mir with a series of wild strikes but Mir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mir takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Mir gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Tar.

Mir closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tar to the mat! Tar manages to get full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tar is trying to keep Mir in close.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Tar holds on and takes a little breather.
Tar is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Tar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mir manages to get himself to full guard.
Tar wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Mir is working an open guard so Tar takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mir is defended easily by Tar.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frak Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tar shoots and misses

and Mir holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Tar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mir walks away with a smile on his face. Tar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Tar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mir as he jumps to the side.
Jack Tar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tar will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mir takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Tar tries to bum rush Mir with a series of wild strikes but Mir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Tar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Mir's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Mir darts in and clinches Tar up against the cage.
Mir tries to land a knee to the head but Tar blocks with his arms.
Tar has had enough of the clinch but Mir keeps him there for the moment.
Mir can't get the takedown.
Tar is trying to break the clinch but Mir is controlling him.
Tar fails to pull guard.

Mir pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mir.
Tar closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Tar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Mir counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Tar pushes Mir off looking to stand but Mir dives back in and keeps control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tar trying to control from the bottom.
Tar is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mir's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mir's back!
Tar is hanging on to Mir's back as he tries to escape.
Mir is keeping busy.
Mir is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Tar.
Mir prevents Tar from getting a body triangle.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Tar really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Mir.
Mir prevents Tar from getting a body triangle.

Tar controlling well, preventing Mir from escaping the position.
Tar is looking to control Mir but Mir is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Mir wants to get back to his feet.

Tar is persistently looking for the submission but Mir is defending it well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mir staying busy and making it hard for Tar to control.
Mir is really stuck here.
Will Tar go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Jack Tar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jack Tar just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Frak Mir.
I think Tar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
