PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donyell Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Action Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker comes into the arena with King of Kings-Motorhead blaring out of the sound system. Donyell Walker has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donyell Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Action Jackson!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Walker on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Walker tries to score a body lock takedown but Jackson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Jackson manages to break the clinch.
Walker wants to slow Jackson down by chopping away at his legs.
Jackson lands the left hand.
Nice takedown defense from Walker. No joy for Jackson on that attempt.
Walker misses with a takedown attempt - Jackson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Walker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Donyell Walker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fight stays on the outside here - Walker looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jackson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Walker could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Walker lands with a kick to the temple. Jackson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Jackson misses with a series of wild punches.
Walker thows a body shot but no joy.
Walker wants to clinch.
Jackson shoots and misses

and Walker counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Walker is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Walker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Walker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Walker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Walker won't allow Jackson to sweep him here.

Walker gets to his feet. Jackson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Walker swinging wilding here.
Jackson is looking to clinch.
Jackson lands a nice looking body kick.
Jackson throws a nice looking combination but Walker bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Jackson looks gassed!

Walker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Walker is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jackson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Jackson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Walker's best efforts.

Walker is working for a submission of some sort.
Jackson is trying to stand back up but Walker is controlling him
Jackson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jackson.
Walker wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Walker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Walker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Walker thows a big elbow that misses.
Walker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jackson is keeping the position for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A nice inside leg kick there by Walker. That's going to slow Jackson down.
No luck for Jackson with that takedown attempt.
Walker shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Walker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Walker shoots and misses

and Jackson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Walker is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jackson is keeping busy.
Walker fails to pull guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson can't get the takedown.
Jackson prevents the takedown attempt.

Jackson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Walker tries a head kick but it misses.

Jackson tries to keep at a distance but Walker has taken the fight into the clinch.
Walker tries to pull guard but Jackson holds him up against the cage and eventually Walker drops back down to his feet.
Jackson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Walker is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Walker tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jackson just stands there and leans against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jackson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Walker misses with the combination.
Walker misses with a straight left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Donyell Walker will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Walker uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jackson.
Nice sprawl there from Jackson as Walker shoots in.
Walker tries a head kick but it misses.
Walker changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Jackson closes the distance but Walker moves to the side

so Walker counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jackson wants to stand and escape but Walker is having none of it.
Walker passes Jackson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Jackson is staying active underneath Walker, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Nice strikes from Walker there.
Walker tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jackson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Walker is keen to just control but Jackson is a slippery customer.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Walker seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Jackson is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Donyell Walker!
