PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pavel Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hong Xueijin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xueijin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. AK-47 - 出发 kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xueijin ducks under a wild hook from Cross.
Cross misses with a series of wild punches.
Cross throws out a loose jab but Xueijin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Xueijin looks to land a combination but Cross avoids it well.
Xueijin throws a jab but it's blocked by Cross.
Xueijin falls off balance throwing a combination
and Cross counters with a two punch combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed right hand from Cross misses the target.
Nice defenses there by Xueijin.

Cross fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Cross will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cross shoots in for a takedown but Xueijin shows good takedown defense.

Cross tries to score a power double leg takedown but Xueijin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cross somewhat.

Cross misses with a takedown attempt - Xueijin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Cross closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cross is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Xueijin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Xueijin is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Xueijin controls Cross momentarily but Cross frees himself.

Cross drops back looking for a leg! Xueijin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Xueijin manages to kick Cross off! Cross jumps back into Xueijin's guard.
Xueijin is looking to stand up but Cross isn't so interested in that idea.

Cross is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Xueijin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Xueijin has escaped and now he's on top!

Cross bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Xueijin's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Xueijin can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cross trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cross passes into half guard.

Cross is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Xueijin has managed to free his arm - good work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Xueijin is looking to escape.

Cross is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Xueijin sees it coming and defends easily.

Cross seems to be looking for submissions.

Xueijin pushes Cross off looking to stand but Cross dives back in and keeps control.
Xueijin is trying to escape back to his feet but Cross uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Cross is trying to get an arm triangle but Xueijin is defending well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cross throws a big shot that misses.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Xueijin throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
A good leg kick by Xueijin.

Xueijin lands a left and a right that send Cross crashing to the mat, dazed. Xueijin thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Pavel Cross has been cut.
Xueijin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hong Xueijin seems to be getting the better of the standup.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cross on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Xueijin. Xueijin obviously looking to wear him down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hong Xueijin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

enabling Cross to counter with a crisp jab.
Xueijin connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Cross to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Xueijin!
