Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between JP Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Fraiser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for JP Lopez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, JP Lopez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tim Fraiser!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fraiser shoots in for a takedown but Lopez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Fraiser throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lopez was covering up waiting for the punch and Fraiser finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lopez has Fraiser pulled in close to control his posture.

Fraiser thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lopez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fraiser on the ground.
Fraiser tries to free his leg and advance position but Lopez is retaining full guard.

Fraiser drops back looking for a leg! Lopez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lopez manages to kick Fraiser off! Fraiser jumps back into Lopez's guard.
Fraiser is fighting to break Lopez's control of his arms but Lopez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fraiser drops back looking for a leg! Lopez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lopez manages to kick Fraiser off! Fraiser jumps back into Lopez's guard.

Fraiser wants to pass the guard but Lopez is keeping the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
A bone on bone clash there as Fraiser blocks the leg kick.
Lopez tries to clinch but Fraiser is having none of it.

Lopez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fraiser.
Lopez keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Lopez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fraiser swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Lopez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fraiser manages to avoid it.

Lopez is looking to clinch but Fraiser is avoiding it.

Lopez throws a jab when Fraiser was well out of range.
Fraiser tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

A combination from Lopez does no damage.
Lopez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fraiser moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lopez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lopez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fraiser moves away.
Lopez jabbing away but nothing is landing.
JP Lopez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lopez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fraiser on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Fraiser shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lopez as he avoids it easily.
Lopez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Fraiser.

Lopez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lopez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fraiser circles away quickly and effectively.
Fraiser tries for a takedown but Lopez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Lopez throws and low kick but Fraiser moves out of range easily.
Lopez clobbers Fraiser with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and Fraiser counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Fraiser.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fraiser stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lopez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fraiser fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Lopez doesn't manage to clinch there - Fraiser circles away.

Both fighters circling a little - Lopez finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lopez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fraiser sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lopez looks to land a left hand but Fraiser moved out of range nicely.

and Fraiser decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lopez's guard.
Fraiser stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lopez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fraiser is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lopez has his feet on Fraiser's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Lopez misses with an uppercut. Fraiser saw that one coming.
Fraiser avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Fraiser has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Fraiser stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Fraiser closes the distance and clinches up with Lopez, looking for a takedown. Fraiser pushes Lopez against the cage but Lopez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Fraiser counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Fraiser postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lopez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fraiser, into his guard.

Lopez throws a front kick aimed at Fraiser's knee but Fraiser avoids it well.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Lopez is not content to let Fraiser control the position.
Lopez pushes Fraiser away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Fraiser gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Fraiser works to advance to full mount. Lopez defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Fraiser goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Lopez is on top in guard.

Fraiser has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lopez is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Fraiser.
Fraiser tries to buck Lopez off but Lopez is having none of it.
Lopez lands a nice forearm strike.
Lopez is putting a hurting on Fraiser here, landing some big shots from side control.
Lopez lands a decent elbow from side control.

Tim Fraiser comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Fraiser has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
