The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carwin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pierre napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pierre takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carwin working the ground and pound.
Pierre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carwin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pierre is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Carwin asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Carwin tries to score with some ground and pound. Pierre controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Pierre is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Pierre parries the strikes from Carwin easily there. Carwin is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pierre to escape.
The strikes coming from Carwin are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Pierre throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Carwin stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Carwin is breathing heavily.
Pierre throws a nice looking combination but Carwin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pierre misses with a low kick.
Pierre scores with a head kick.

It looks like Shane Carwin has been cut.
Pierre tries to land a front kick but Carwin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Pierre defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Carwin.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shane Carwin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pierre punishes Carwin's body with a nice straight punch.
Shane Carwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
