PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lucas CdS (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan dos Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). dos Santos has chosen Perry Mason as his entrance music. Alan dos Santos looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas CdS!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alan dos Santos!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by dos Santos or perhaps it was just good defense by CdS which made him look bad.
dos Santos fails with a takedown attempt.
dos Santos tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but CdS swivels and escapes.
Lucas CdS has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alan dos Santos.
dos Santos throws a low kick, looking for CdS's leg but CdS calmly moves out of range.

CdS closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - CdS lands in his opponent's guard.
CdS trying to control the position from guard on top but dos Santos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

CdS thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

dos Santos working for a triangle but CdS defends it easily.

CdS decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on dos Santos, up you get!

dos Santos tries for a takedown but CdS circles away easily

so CdS counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
CdS stays in close to dos Santos's body and controls the position.
CdS will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
CdS trying to control but dos Santos is working from the bottom.
CdS advances to half guard.
dos Santos has hold of CdS's hands but CdS slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
CdS trying to pass the guard but dos Santos defending well.

CdS winds up and cracks dos Santos with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Still in half guard, CdS seems content to control.
CdS is looking to take a break and control but dos Santos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

CdS stands up and beckons dos Santos to join him on the feet.
CdS throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
CdS will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
CdS fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

CdS tries to keep at a distance but dos Santos has taken the fight into the clinch.
dos Santos goes for a takedown in the clinch but CdS prevents it.

CdS decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
dos Santos is doing well to control the position and prevent CdS from advancing to side control.

dos Santos has a hand on CdS's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. CdS takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

CdS throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around dos Santos's waist but dos Santos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing CdS off to one side.

dos Santos decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
CdS has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. dos Santos is working away from the top position though.
dos Santos is looking to stall here but CdS recovers full guard.

dos Santos is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
CdS utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

CdS is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
dos Santos is looking to work some ground and pound but CdS has wrist control.
CdS looking for a sweep. Not yet CdS, not yet.

CdS throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
dos Santos wanted to stand there but CdS had control of the position.
CdS really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
CdS preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
dos Santos preventing the sweep.
dos Santos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Let's hope that dos Santos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
dos Santos must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
CdS lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for dos Santos!

CdS breaks from dos Santos's wrist control and lands an elbow.
dos Santos tries to hold on but CdS pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
CdS trying to control but he's not successful this time.
CdS postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. dos Santos looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
dos Santos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

CdS stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

dos Santos shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. dos Santos showed some decent athleticism there.
CdS slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
dos Santos trying to control but CdS is working from the bottom.

CdS wriggles free and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Alan dos Santos will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

CdS changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. dos Santos looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

dos Santos on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
dos Santos struggling a bit here.
dos Santos tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but CdS wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lucas CdS overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
dos Santos takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
CdS goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

dos Santos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than dos Santos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

CdS wants to hold on but dos Santos pushes him away.
dos Santos tries to control but CdS wriggling away.

dos Santos is going olschool here, as he tries to force CdS to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so CdS shrugs it off.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
CdS tries to control dos Santos's body but dos Santos pushes him off. CdS squirms to his side and now dos Santos has his back!

I really don't envy CdS right now.

dos Santos is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. CdS defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

dos Santos is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. CdS knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften CdS for a finish.

Alan dos Santos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think dos Santos has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
