Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chuck Evans looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rick James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chuck Evans!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Evans avoids any damage from the ground and pound of James.

James thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

James looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James is trying to get an arm triangle but Evans is defending well.
James throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Evans wants to control but James postures up.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

James tries for a kimura but Evans is defending well.

James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Evans manages to get back to half guard.
James tries to pass to full mount but Evans defends it.

James is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
James is breathing heavily.
James passes the guard and advances to mount!
Evans bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Evans trying to control but James is working from the bottom.

James wants to sweep but no luck.

James working for a triangle but Evans defends it easily.
James keeping moving, preventing Evans from controlling successfully.
Evans makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Evans slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Evans trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A big right from Evans misses.

James closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Evans to the mat! Evans manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
James wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving.
Evans manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. James manages to get himself to full guard.
James trying to keep a closed guard but Evans is proving a slippery customer.
Evans passes James's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Evans looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

James trying to control but Evans postures up.
James might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Evans stalling.
Evans trying to control the action but James is working from the bottom.

James regains full guard. Nicely done.

James looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick James dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Evans slows the pace down in half guard.
James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
James is staying active underneath Evans, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Evans not doing much here.
James works his way to full guard. Good work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

James is looking for a triangle but Evans pushes his legs off easily.
James wants to sweep here but Evans controlling him for the moment.

James is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Evans is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
James is trying to keep Evans in close.
Evans trying to control but James is working from the bottom.

Evans drops back looking for a leg! James is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and James manages to kick Evans off! Evans jumps back into James's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evans doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but James is tightening it up a little... Evans has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Evans reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Evans taps out! nice BJJ there by James!
