PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Choio Grande (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Moye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grande's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Hollywood Undead - Undead. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derek Moye!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grande dives in and grabs Moye's left leg, looking for a takedown. Moye pushes down on Grande's head and hops out.

Grande drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Grande is trying to get an arm triangle but Moye is defending well.

Grande tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Grande has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Moye wants to control but Grande postures up.
Moye is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Grande seems to be working for a kimura but Moye defends the submission attempt.

Moye is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Grande's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Grande's back!

Moye tries to get the hooks in deep but Grande pushed the leg off.

Moye is persistently looking for the submission but Grande is defending it well.
Well, with Moye on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Grande is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Moye is hanging on to Grande's back as he tries to escape.

You can see the frustration on Grande's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Moye is trying to stick to Grande's back but Grande is turning into Moye. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Moye's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Grande.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Moye has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Grande can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Grande got a little sloppy there for a moment and Moye has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Grande has managed to get both his arms back between Moye's legs - danger averted.

Grande would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Moye looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moye keeping full guard, as Grande tries to pass.
Moye wants to sweep here but Grande controlling him for the moment.
Moye is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Grande has a hand on Moye's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Moye takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Grande has gone for a leg lock! Moye slips out almost immediately though and dives into Grande's guard.

Moye drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Moye jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Moye sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Grande's guard.
Moye tries to pass to full mount but Grande defends it.

Grande looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Moye pushes past his half guard into mount!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Moye has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Grande! Can he survive? No! He's out! Moye gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
