PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret Heart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Random Jobber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bret Heart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Random Jobber!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Heart drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jobber looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Heart stands and steps away. Jobber gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Heart shoots in but no luck this time.
Heart tries to clinch but Jobber is having none of it.
Jobber doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Heart fails with the takedown.
Heart shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bret Heart. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Heart blocks a leg kick.
Random Jobber is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Heart scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Heart lands with a slapping head kick.
Heart shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jobber but Jobber pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Heart tries to clinch up but Jobber circles away and keeps his distance.
Heart tries to close the distance and clinch but Jobber swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Heart shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jobber pinned against the cage. Jobber gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Heart looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Heart lands with a thumping leg kick.
Heart cracks a nice hook into Jobber's ribs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Heart shoots for a double leg takedown but Jobber sprawls well. He's pushed Heart's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Heart plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Jobber should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Heart throws a head kick that Jobber semi-blocks.
Heart lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Heart.
Heart shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jobber pinned against the cage. Jobber gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jobber keeps the fight on the outside.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jobber swats away the attempt to clinch by Heart.
Heart scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Heart tries to clinch but Jobber moves out of range.
Heart throws a head kick that half lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bret Heart dominated that round.
That's time! Heart's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Jobber throws a combination that misses
and Heart counters with a head kick.
Horrible takedown by Heart or perhaps it was just good defense by Jobber which made him look bad.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Jobber has eaten all the pies!
Nice takedown defense from Jobber. No joy for Heart on that attempt.
Heart throws a nice inside leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Heart looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bret Heart. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jobber throws a leg kick

and Heart counters with a shoot takedown. Jobber fights it but they end up in guard.

Heart drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Heart jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Heart controlling from the top position.
Heart pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jobber is keeping the position for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jobber being controlled here, momentarily.
Heart postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Heart decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Heart tries to clinch there but Jobber circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Heart.
Bret Heart is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Good leg kick by Heart there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Heart drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Heart is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bret Heart dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Heart shoots in and drives through. Jobber sprawls well.
Jobber stuffs the takedown.
Jobber throws a combination that misses
and Heart connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Heart is looking to clinch.
Heart throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Jobber's head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Heart is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jobber sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bret Heart. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Heart gets the takedown into side control.
Heart content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Random Jobber has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Heart working away.
Heart staying calm.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Heart advances to full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Jobber tries to lock up and control but Heart gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
A nice elbow there by Heart.
Heart sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Heart has control of Jobber's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jobber regains control of the situation pretty easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bret Heart showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Heart has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
