PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bob Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omar Plato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Plato has chosen Poker Face as his entrance music. Omar Plato is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bob Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Omar Plato!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Johnson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Plato tries to break the clinch but Johnson is controlling the position.

Johnson jumps guard and drags Plato to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Johnson pushes Plato off and gets back to his feet.
Plato is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Plato throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Johnson gets the takedown into side control.
Johnson happy to just control the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Plato wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Plato knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Plato is letting Johnson control him for a moment.

Johnson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Plato to his feet.

Plato gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Johnson to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Plato is retaining full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Plato swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Johnson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Plato did well to prevent Johnson getting side control.

Johnson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Plato swings away with a leg kick that misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Plato for as long as he can get away with.

Johnson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Plato's half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Johnson in particular looking to stall.

Plato throws a right hand that Johnson ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnson also avoids with ease.

Plato is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Johnson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Plato is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Johnson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Johnson is controlling the pace.

Plato tries to kick Johnson off but Johnson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Johnson moves nicely into side control.
Plato is trying to get back to his feet.
Johnson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Plato's shoulder. That is not cool.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
