Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kieran Mistry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexei Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mistry comes to the cage accompanied by Hurt. Alexei Karelin is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mistry displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Karelin.
Karelin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mistry is fending him off so far but Karelin persists. Nope, Mistry circles away and we're back to standing.

Mistry throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Karelin was covering up waiting for the punch and Mistry finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mistry accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Karelin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mistry is aware though and is defending well.

Karelin drops back looking for a leg! Mistry is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mistry manages to kick Karelin off! Karelin jumps back into Mistry's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Karelin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mistry manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Karelin has Mistry in his guard.

Karelin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mistry defends well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mistry is working Karelin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Karelin is on top in guard.
Mistry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Karelin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mistry defends it well.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mistry changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Karelin fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Mistry closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Karelin did well to prevent Mistry getting side control.

Mistry looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Karelin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
